real salt lake game

On Halloween we went to the Real soccer game with a few friends. First I have to say, the fans are NUTS, but that's what made it fun! Second, we scored to win the game at the last minute. What a game! We had a great time and hope to go to more.

tutorial for lex & jess :)

Materials Needed:

  • pillow form
  • fabric to cover back and front of pillow (yardage depends on pillow size- most pillows require 1/2 yard or less)
Step 1:

Measure the pillow form and determine the size of your front and back pieces. You can embellish your front piece or leave it plain. You will cut two pieces of fabric for the back. For example, I bought a 18"x18" pillow form so I cut out 19"x19" (front side), 2 19"x12" (back side).

Step 2:

Cut and embellish the front of your pillow as desired.

Step 2
Step 3:

Cut two pieces of fabric for the back based on your computations in Step 1. If your pillow form is a rectangle, realize that the computations assume the split in the back will be across the shortest dimension.

Step 3
Step 4:

If your pillow is rectangle, you will be working on the shortest dimension. If your pillow is square you will working on the longest dimension. Press under 1/2" and topstitch.

Step 5:

On the appropriate dimension (see Step 4) of the other piece, press under 1/2" and then 2" and stitch. If you fabric has a one-way design (you can tell if it's right-side up or upside down), make sure you finish the correct ends of each piece.

Step 5Step 4
Step 6:

With right sides facing up, pin the piece you hemmed 2" on top of the piece you hemmed 1/2", overlapping 2".

Step 6
Step 7:

With right sides together, pin the front to the back pieces. Sew all four sides using a 1/2" seam allowance.

Step 7
Step 8:

Turn cover right side out and insert pillow form. Ta da!

my bike and babies

I went for a bike ride and couldn't resist snapping shots of these amazing colors.
I threw a post baby shower for my cousin Becca. The reason why it was 'post' is because they were gone all summer. I love holding him! Thanks to all of you who came and helped.

story of my life

Rob = school
Me = work/home

I need something to do while I'm home and he's at school all day. I was thinking...

1. Sew (oh wait I don't have $ to buy materials)
2. Clean (you could eat off my kitchen floor I clean so much)
3. TV (not productive, especially when you don't have tivo)
4. Get a dog (Rob thinks I won't want it after a week)
5. Read (I'm currently enjoying 'Secret Life of Bees')
6. Exercise (it's nice out, so I'll go for a run)
7. Visit (my cousin Bec just had a baby, so I'll hang with them...I love holding him)
8. Bake (if I don't eat it all)
9. Shop (just for fun...without my wallet)
10. Get Pregnant (mwhahaha I wish)

our white-walled apartment

PROS for our new place: covered parking, an extra bathroom (Rob was stoked), big kitchen, cable (hallelujah), can control the thermostat, and.....a dishwasher!

Here are a few shots of the Laney nook:
